Dark Blue Baking Dishes

I love to cook and bake and believe that food really does taste better when baked and served in hand-made pieces.  This beatuiful glaze varies from light brown with royal blue highlights to this wonderful series that shimmers dark blue with a hint of brown.

Favorite Soap Dishes

A few years ago my dear friend Christina asked that I make some soap dishes for her to use to display her handmade soaps at a crafts fair.  I made her a few samples and she liked them quite a bit but did request that I add a way for the way to "sit up" in the dish so it wouldn't get soft.  Over the years I've made a number of different shapes and designs.  These "favorite" soap dishes were inspired by another friend, Maureen, that was looking for a soap dish to go with a wall platter I had made for her.  By combining the textures of the
platter and fun shapes and glazes with the "dots" to keep the soap dry I've come up with my personal favorite soap dishes.

This is the newest batch of dishes, fresh out of the kiln this morning!

Weekend at the Outdoor Art Show

Although the sun was a bit toasty, the show this past weekend was really wonderful.  My booth was directly in front of the steps of this beautiful mission-style church (St. Philip's in the Hills), right next to a fountain.  Not only was a my booth in a great location, but my neighbor artists were wonderful.  One of my favorite things about new shows is meeting amazing artists.

To all of my friends who came by to say hello and to the new friends that I met throughout the weekend, thank you for supporting local art!  I hope you all had as much fun as I did!

Javelina Garden Totem

My little Javelina Garden Totem was inspired by daily visit by a large pack of Javelina on our property.  Although Javelina can generally be destructive and a bit smelly, this little Peccary likes to hang out in backyards and gardens basking in the sun.  He won't eat your plants and will bring good karma to any setting.  Javelina's come in the size pictured  and a baby Javelina.

Red Shino Bowl with Turquoise Design

Chad's beautiful shino and red bowl with turquoise design was high fired in our home gas kiln.  The variation in the glaze adds a primitive hint to a simple but elegant bowl.

Leaves, leaves, leaves

Fall is here and I'm getting ready for upcoming shows.  This past week I've been working on bowls, platters, candle sconces and boxes incorporating my collection of leaves.  The leaves that inspired my original drawings for the templates for these pieces were collected on a hike in Boyton Canyon near Sedona, AZ in 2007.  Of course there are many acorns adorning these creations...and lots of spare acorns for collectors.

Check our our Events Page to view where you can see these pieces in person this season.
